WESMONT STATION, WOOD-RIDGE NJ
A new NJ transit train station and plaza will be the centerpiece of this 70-acre traditional neighborhood development, where a mix of housing, retail, and community facilities will come together to create a vibrant center. Every home and building will be within walking distance of the train station, and pedestrian bridges, light fixtures, planters, benches, bike racks and extra-wide sidewalks will help to define Wesmont Station as a pedestrian-oriented community.
This comprehensive development will include over 800 residences consisting of a variety of housing styles, 130,000 square feet of retail, a public square, community center; new middle school and walking and biking paths, all within a five-minute walk of the new planned train station that will connect with the Bergen Line commuter rail to Manhattan.
Wesmont Station is the only northern New Jersey development to be selected to participate as a pilot project in the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Neighborhood Development Initiative, and was honored in 2006 by NJ Future with the organization’s prestigious Smart Growth Award.
