Since being retained by Somerset Development, Nicholas has planned, managed or is managing the following for Somerset: a 396-unit, mixed-use PUD overlooking the Hudson near Kingston, NY; extensive community outreach for the design and engineering of a 93-unit, age-restricted development project in Lakewood, NJ; the redevelopment of a 50-acre project on a former industrial site in Aberdeen, NJ, which should ultimately consist of 825 dwelling units and 200,000+ square feet of commercial space; a 74-unit townhouse development in Highland Park, NJ; provided planning services for the redevelopment of 22 acres on the Brooklyn waterfront; obtained use-variance approvals and provided project management services for 78 units in three projects in Lakewood, NJ; and the redevelopment of a 144-acre site in Chestnut Ridge, NY.

Before founding the Graviano Planning Group in 2004, Nicholas worked for private sector engineering firms as well as governmental planning agencies. He has provided a diverse mixture of land planning and development consulting services for a wide array of projects throughout the northeastern United States. He is experienced in preparing both fiscal impact studies and site suitability analysis. Graviano has provided expert testimony before municipal boards and governing bodies for land development projects in dozens of municipalities in the States of New Jersey and Pennsylvania. He has also authored several municipal zoning ordinances and municipal master plans. Graviano has extensive grant-writing experience and has procured funding for transportation, smart growth and streetscape projects. He is also well versed in statistical and demographic analysis.

Nicholas has a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Geography/Urban Studies from Rutgers University; a Masters in City and Regional Planning (M.C.R.P.) from Rutgers University; and a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from the Temple University School of Law where he received a distinguished class performance in State and Local Government law.

Nicholas is a licensed Professional Planner (P.P.) in the State of New Jersey and also holds American Institute of Certified Planners (A.I.C.P.) certification. He is also a member of the American Planning Association (A.P.A.) and the Congress for the New Urbanism (C.N.U.).
